Cookies 'n Cream Ice Cream

First thing, go out and buy an ice cream maker, for multiple reasons. One being that if you want to make rich and delicious ice cream filled only with ingredients you can actually pronounce, you gotta get it. It's also been really fun experimenting with different ratios of ingredients. I find that the recipes provided in the Cuisinart recipe book that came with my ice cream maker (linked here), are way too rich. After much experimenting, I found the perfect ratio of heavy cream, milk, sugar and vanilla. These are the base ingredients for most ice cream recipes I make. I also suggest buying a freezer safe ice cream container to store your ice cream after it finishes in the ice cream maker. I usually freeze my batches for about 24 hours before consuming. Click here to purchase the ice cream containers that I have. They prevent freezer burn, are easy to clean, and are the ideal shape for scooping! Finally, I recommend keeping the freezer bowl in the freezer at all times because you never know when the craving will hit!

Cookies 'n Cream Ice Cream Recipe:

2 Cups of Whole Milk
1 Cup of Heavy Cream
3/4 Cup of Sugar
1 Tbsp Vanilla
Pinch of Salt
5-7 Oreos or Any Mix In

Combine whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, and salt into a stainless steel bowl and mix well. Take freezer bowl out of the freezer place in ice cream maker and turn it on. Pour liquid mixture into the ice cream maker and allow ice cream maker to work for 20-25 minutes or until desired thickness is accomplished. At this time, place chopped up mix ins into your ice cream and mix until well combined. You can either allow the ice cream maker to do this or you can do it yourself. Once fully combined, place ice cream mixture into a container and freeze for 24 hours.

*Note that this recipe yields approximately 5 cups (ten 1/2-cup servings).
