NY Strip Steak (2 servings)
Montreal Steak Seasoning
For Caramelized Onions:
Yellow onion (I used 2 medium sized for 2 servings)
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp water
For Butter:
A half stick of good unsalted butter at room temp
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp fresh parsley
1 tsp dried thyme
Salt (to taste)
Pepper (to taste)
Place half of a stick of softened unsalted butter in a bowl, add minced garlic, fresh chopped parsley, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix together and place butter on plastic wrap. Wrap butter tightly while forming into a rectangle. Place in freezer to harden. Cut yellow onions in 1/2 inch thick slices. Turn on pan to medium heat and add olive oil once heated. Place onions into pan. While the onions are cooking, rub steaks generously with Montreal Steak Seasoning and place on grill. Once onions begin to sweat, add 1 tbsp of butter and 2 tbsp of water. Stir frequently and continue to cook until onions begin to turn brown and caramelize. Remove steak from grill when cooked at desired temperature. Cut chilled butter into pads and place on top of steak while the steak rests for 10 minutes. Place caramelized onions on top when ready to serve. Enjoy!
